Programs for Youth
FCC younger youth enjoyed an Easter egg hunt after visiting Life Care Center of Morehead.
While all generations are important to FCC we feel a special calling to youth ministry. They are a sign of hope from God, and as a church we are called to nurture, teach and love children of all races, genders and abilities. We watch faith grow through our children’s, youth, and young adult programs. We provide a nursery for newborns up through 4 years old for our services. Our attendants are trained both medically and educationally to care for little ones.
Most Sundays children from kindergarten through Pastor’s class are invited to attend children’s church, which assembles after the start of the morning worship; they study the same basic scripture that is being used in ‘big church,’ and then can go back to their families for communion at the end of the service.
Pastor’s class is held once or twice a year (as needed) for those young people who are thinking about baptism and church membership.
Our youth have a separate time of meeting once a month - usually on the last Sunday of the month. They all eat lunch together, then split into age groups for times of study, mission, conversation, and fellowship. We are fortunate to have strong leaders who help all groups participate in providing worship twice a year - music, drama, and other opportunities abound, and our young people are a steady presence in all forms of worship.
Though we don’t have a regular youth schedule in the summer, groups meet for fun and travel.
